Edvin Strandberg won both of his singles matches and advanced to the Round of 16 to highlight the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team on day one of the ITA Northeast Regionals on the campus of Drew University.
In the round of 64, Strandberg took on Pratt's Eagle Zhang and cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Then in the Round of 32, the senior faced Rochester's Alan Wang and went to a tiebreaker. After winning the opening game 7-5, Strandberg fell in the second before storming back with a 10-8 win to advance to tomorrow's Round of 16.
In doubles play, Strandberg picked up another win alongside
John Hill-Edgar defeating Manhattanville's Mario Alcala and Lev Uitterhoeve 8-3. Unfortunately, the tandem would fall in the Round of 16.
Broderick Pinto and
Jake David had an identical fate winning their Round of 32 matchup 8-3 over Rochester's Wang and Ethan Samora, before falling in the next round.
Strandberg will represent the Scarlet and Brown tomorrow morning in the Round of 16 from the campus of Drew.
