Ryan Tingley, and
Charles Schepens won the D and E flight respectively to lead the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team on day two of the Garnet Charger Invitational in Schenectady, N.Y. on Sunday.
In the D draw, Tingley took on Union's Jiahe Wang in the flight final and won in comeback fashion. After falling 4-6 in the opening game, the newcomer won the next 6-1 and claimed the tiebreak 10-7 to win the D bracket.
The Saints were well represented in the E draw where Sebastian Boada and
Sonny Mo faced one another in the semifinals. Mo claimed the All-St. Lawrence tilt 8-4 to advance in the final. It would be another SLU matchup as Schepens advanced to the final with a tight 8-7 (9-7) tiebreak win over Christian Crowder.
Schepens carried the momentum into the final, beating his fellow classmate 8-5 to take the E draw.
Boada and Mo's day was not done as they teamed up in B doubles. The two advanced to the flight final after defeating Crowder and Wang 8-7 (7-2) in the semifinals. The two were unable to take the flight however falling 8-1 to Ian Schunk and Vivaan Gupta.
The Scarlet and Brown will have a week's rest before heading to the ITA Northeast Regionals on September 26. The Regionals will be hosted by Drew University in Madison, N.J.
