Emma Palumbo took second overall in the 3000m steeplechase as the St. Lawrence University women's track and field began the Liberty League outdoor track and field championship Friday afternoon in Troy, N.Y.
The result helped St. Lawrence to sixth overall following the opening day of the championship meet.
Palumbo's run of 11:23.46 was enough to receive all-Liberty League second team honors.
Alli Sibold qualified for the 800m final, as she placed third in her first-round race with a time of 2:18.65, good enough to be the third seed heading into the final race Saturday afternoon. The run narrowly missed her personal best, but was seven seconds faster than her last run in the event at the Bison Outdoor classic earlier this year.
Distance runner
Charlotte Blake also fared well racing in the 800m, recording a lifetime-best time of 2:20.73 for the AARTFC qualifying standard in the event.
In distance runs,
Olivia Bernier scored points for the Saints in the 10,000m, placing eighth overall with a time of 40:00.31.
Elsewhere at Leagues, the Saints received an eighth-place finish from
Lacey Eckert in the hammer throw with a toss for 38.64m, and
Lauryn Cruz placed 13
th in that event, recording a distance of 35.11m.
Mackenzie Marcus participated in the long jump, recording a leap of 4.51m.
Kiran Black was right behind her at 4.49m.
