Box Score The St. Lawrence University men's tennis team swept the doubles round, and won four of six singles matches on Saturday evening earning them a 5-2 win over Daemen University in Amherst, N.Y.
St. Lawrence improved to 4-1 with the win, while Daemen fell to 2-6.
In doubles, the Saints came up with a 3-0 sweep to earn the point. At one,
Adam Heilbronner and
Broderick Pinto defeated Alex Lumanog and Juan Alvarez 6-2, while at number two,
Ben Moolman and
Jake David teamed up to take down Lucas Garcia and Jayven Williamson 6-0. In the three spot,
Edvin Strandberg and
John Hill-Edgar had a tough match against Lasse Mergens and Rohan Chitanand but pulled out a 7-5 win.
In singles, Heilbronner won his second match of the day 6-3, 6-3 against Lumanog to go perfect on the match. At three,
Cole Hamilton took on Chitanand and after dropping the opening set 1-6, came back to win 6-3, 6-0 to take the victory.
At four, Moolman also earned his second win of the day defeating Garcia 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. The final win came from the number five match where Hill-Edgar and Mergens played a tremendous match. Hill-Edgar won the first set 6-2, while the opposition won the second 3-6. The Saints' junior came through with a big 11-9 tiebreak win to claim the match.
The Scarlet and Brown will now be without matches until Monday, March 18 when the team heads to Orlando, Fla. to take on Hamilton in the first of six matches down south.
