Box Score Adam Heilbronner and
Ben Moolman advanced to the doubles draw Final to lead the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team on day two of the Dutchmen Invitational on Sunday on the campus of Union College.
In the doubles draw, Heilbronner and Moolman were set for a Semifinal matchup against Hamilton's Charlie Sternberg and Ignatio Tran today after advancing to the round yesterday. The Scarlet and Brown duo got the better of Hamilton taking an 8-2 win and advancing to the final against Union's Dimitris Binopoulos and Ben Jacobs. The Saints' duo would come up just short falling 8-4 in the final to end their run.
In the A singles draw, Heilbronner took on top-seeded Connor Griff from Hamilton in the Semifinals and came out swinging, winning the opening set 6-4 over his competition. Griff would counterpunch with a 6-1 win in the second set to bring it to a tiebreaker. Heilbronner battled hard but would fall 10-5 in the matchup. Griff would be the eventual champion of the draw.
In the A draw consolation, after
Cole Hamilton (8-3 over Seth Prusko), and
John Hill-Edgar (Bye) advanced to the Semifinals yesterday, the two faced off for a chance to advance. The senior Hamilton came away with the win 8-7(5) to advance. The final of the consolation was not played. Â Â
The Scarlet and Brown will have next week off as the team prepares for the ITA Northeast Regionals on Sept. 29-Oct. 1 on the campus of Drew University.
