The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team is set to begin their 2023-24 season this Saturday in the Mary Hosking Invitational hosted by William Smith College.
Last season, a year removed from an 8-8 record, the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team posted double digit wins with a 10-6 overall record and a 5-3 Liberty League mark.
Their record earned them the No. 5 seed in the Liberty League tournament where the team would advance to the semifinals. The Saints' run ended there where No. 1 Vassar won the first five matches to advance.
Returning to the lineup for St. Lawrence is
Molly Jespersen, who was Second-Team All-League in singles and doubles along with fellow sophomore
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen, who was an Honorable Mention selection. Also returning to the squad are seniors
Elena Styliades and
Meredith Macey, along with sophomores
Alexandra Fuller,
Abigail Sicuranza, and
Maya Stepic.
The women's tennis program will welcome four first-years to the lineup, who will look to establish themselves early and make an impact on the court this season. The Class of 2027 includes
Ellie Fritz,
Sarah Oldland, and twin sisters
Ariane Karera and
Yvette Karera.
Following the Mary Hosking Invitational, the Scarlet and Brown will host the St. Lawrence University Invitational on Sept. 16-17, then will head back to Geneva on Sept. 23-25 for the ITA Northeast Regionals.
