Saints Squash Receives Gift To Enhance The Robie Squash Center

Alumni, family and friends around the world will soon be able to enjoy live Saints squash action on every court during the 2023-24 home season thanks to the generosity of anonymous donors.

In previous seasons, viewers were only able to watch matches on the Dordelman Championship Court. This gift to the squash program was made to enhance the technology capabilities in the Robie Squash Courts, giving live access to online viewers on each of the courts while providing LCD scoreboards to enhance the experience for fans in attendance.

"Because the squash team is the most diverse athletic team on campus, many international students do not have the opportunity for their families to come to visit or watch their matches as they aren't just a drive away. This brings the capability for St. Lawrence Squash family members to watch and virtually support their kids," said Petra DeRose '24.  "I am super excited and grateful for the opportunity of having these technological advancements in our squash facility."

Families and friends of both current Saints players and visiting competitors are set to benefit from this investment, while it will also provide a key recruiting tool for Head Coach David Morrish as he looks to build around a current roster that includes leaders such as two-time CSA Second Team All-American Lewis Anderson '25, 2022-23 Liberty League Rookie of the Year Abhisheka David '26, and All-Conference honoree Meg Pruett '25.

"This gift is a perfect example of how philanthropy makes a deep impact on the lives of people in the St. Lawrence community," said Vice President for University Advancement Troy Finn. "The investment this family has made in the student-athlete experience will reverberate with squash alumni and families, while opening doors to the next wave of Saints. We're so thankful for their support."

The project installation is expected to be complete in October, with alumni, family and friends to be invited to join a "soft launch" of the capabilities prior to the first home match in November.

"As we prepare for another exciting season of Saints Athletics this fall, knowing we have support from donors across each of our teams is incredibly meaningful to our coaches and staff," said Senior Associate Vice President for Athletics Bob Durocher M'94, P'13. "This gift will make an immense difference for our squash programs, which have always represented the University well both on and off the court."
