Emma Palumbo won the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the St. Lawrence University women's track and field team as they competed in a quad meet against the University of Vermont, the University of New Hampshire, and Castleton on Saturday afternoon in Burlington, Vt.
The sophomore finished the race in 11:21.87 to take the win in her first crack at the event since the 2022 NCAA National Championship meet.
Haylei Coolican finished second in the race, running a career best 11:34.85. These finishes mark the top two quickest times in the Liberty League so far this season.
First-year
Kaylee Bertini continued her impressive rookie season. She ran a career best 17.56 seconds in the 100 hurdles. She took second in that and the high jump, where she cleared 1.45 meters. She also finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:15.52. Senior
Hayley Castagnier finished second in the 100 meters and third in the 100-meter hurdles.
Alli Sibold ran a career best in the 1,500 meters. She took third in the metric mile, finishing the three and three quarters of a lap in 4:41.99. As of reporting that is the best time in the conference so far this season.
The hosts won the meet, and the Saints finished third behind New Hampshire and a head of Castleton. They next compete next weekend at the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
