Box Score The St. Lawrence University men's tennis team swept their doubles matches and won five of their six singles matches to beat RIT 8-1 on Friday night in Rochester, N.Y. to improve to 3-0 on the season.
St. Lawrence is now 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in the Liberty League.Â
The Scarlet and Brown opened their day sweeping the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead on the Tigers. In the first doubles match,
Nathan Turtledove and
Ben Moolman won their number one matchup 8-6. In the number two doubles, the team of
Adam Heilbronner and
Broderick Pinto won 8-2. At number three doubles,
Nico Haet and
John Hill-Edgar swept the Tigers' team 8-0.
Moolman improved to 2-0 on the day winning his matchup in the number two singles spot taking the first and third sets of his match. Haet also went to three sets in the number three spot winning the first set 6-4 and the last set 6-2.Â
In the number four and five spots the Saints swept their contests.
Edvin Strandberg swept his number four singles matchup 6-4, 6-4, and was followed up by Heilbronner at five, who won 6-3, 6-3.Â
Like Moolman and Haet, Pinto also went the distance in the number six matchup. Pinto won the opening game 6-3, and dropped a tight 7-6 (9-7) second set. The first-year won the tightly contested final set 10-8.Â
The Scarlet and Brown will stay on the road as they travel to Saratoga Springs for a match against Skidmore College tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.Â
