The Canton, N.Y. native's 19 points are a career high. She hit five 3-pointers and also grabbed five rebounds.
Today's game played out in a similar fashion as the last matchup did, which was less than a week ago in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. On January 24
th, Bard and St. Lawrence we tied at the halftime break, before the Saints outscored the Raptors 23-5 in the third quarter, which was a gap that Bard could not close in the fourth. Today, St. Lawrence led by one-point at halftime, but outscored Bard 20-4 in the third, not letting up a single field goal.
The Saints came out of the halftime break leading 31-30, and scored 16 straight points. Bard went 4-4 from the free throw line in the final 81 seconds, and St. Lawrence went into the final 10 minutes up 51-34.
Bard's Christina Kiser scored Bard's first nine points of the fourth quarter, and were able to cut it to within 12, but a 3-pointer from
Abby Doin capped off a nine-nothing run from the Saints to get the lead up to 21 at 65-44 with under two minutes to play, and the final score red 68-49.
"Great win for our team where we got some contributions from several players that stepped up today," said head coach
Dan Roiger, "in particular
Abby Doin,
Shannon Rhone, and
Katie Chisholm. I also thought that
Stella Davis and
Gunnhildur Atladottir played excellent defense and really helped us out on the boards. With a short-handed team missing three starters today, we needed some players to step up and they did."
Kiser, who is leading the league in scoring, scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in 40 minutes. Olivia Couture also played all 40 minutes and recorded an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double.
Bard was 20-21 from the free throw line, and Kiser was a perfect 11-for-11.
Other than Chisholm's 19, the St. Lawrence scoring was evenly distributed. Six Saints scored between five and nine points.
St. Lawrence out-rebounded the Raptors 46 to 37. Atladottir and Doin had career highs in rebounds, with eight and six respectively, and
Cam Roberts had a season high with eight boards.
