It took just six matches for the No. 20 St. Lawrence University women's squash team to get the five points they needed in their 8-1 win over No. 27 Colby College on Saturday afternoon in Waterville, Maine.
"The women came together as a team today and showed the improvement by having a comfortable win against Colby," said head coach

The Saints got off to a hot start going 4-1 in their first five matches. Senior captain

Petra DeRose and
Kat Leiva all earned 3-0 sweeps in the first five matches. Kelley took on India Spencer in the number three spot and won 11-8, 11-3, 11-2 in a 16-minute match. DeRose beat Karla Dominguez in the number four match 11-4, 11-8, 11-9 for the second sweep of the day. In the number nine spot
Kat Leiva made quick work of Greta Drefke winning 11-4, 11-5, 11-3 in a quick 13-minute match.
Margaret Fleischner got the Saints their fifth win in the number six spot beating Juliette Love after going 1-1 in the first two sets. After playing to 11-8, 9-11 in the first two sets, Fleischner swept the final two sets 11-7, 11-3 to take the match.
With the match in hand, the Scarlet and Brown went on to win the remaining three matches.
Sanna Koivumäki continued her excellent play in the number two spot in the lineup winning 11-4, 11-5, 11-4 against Colby's Clara Lehv.
Starnisha Ramsey went up two sets against MacKenzie O'Shea in the number seven spot before dropping the third set. Ramsey rebounded with an 11-7 win for the 3-1 win. In the number eight match
Promise Dorsey-Butler swept Colby's Stephanie Keane 11-6, 11-6, 11-5 in just 16 minutes. In the final match of the day
Ulrikke Ribesen won the number five match 3-1 over Sabrina Teope. Ribesen went up 2-0 on her opponent but fell 11-9 in the third set. Ribesen got an easy 11-4 win in the fourth set to get the win.
St. Lawrence's three-match weekend in Maine wraps up tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. when the Scarlet and Brown travel an hour down the road to Lewiston, Maine to take on Bates College.
