The St. Lawrence University League of Legends team topped Alfred State 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in the 2021 College League of Legends Tournament.
 
In the first game, the Saints got an early jump with the first two kills of the match and were in the process of taking down the Mountain Drake but Alfred State swooped in and stole the first dragon kill of the match.
 
St. Lawrence continued to build its lead in kills, leading 17-1, but Alfred State battled back tying the dragon count 3-3 and leading in gold. When it looked like Alfred State may take over for the win, the Saints countered with a couple of good last minute attacks and kills to claim the blue turret and the first game with a 30-9 advantage in kills.

Connor Lambert and Cole Weigartz both had eight kills to lead St. Lawrence in the first game.
 
The Saints made quick work in the second game, building an early lead (4-0 in kills and 1-0 in dragons). St. Lawrence then improved to 11-4 in kills and knocked down the first two turret's working to clear the midway.

The Saints, took the heckarim and sealed the win with a 22-5 lead in kills, an 8-0 advantage in turrets and 3-1 lead in dragon kills.

"I am proud of the team and the work they have put in over the last two weeks in preparation for this match," said League of Legends coach Eric Shinnick. "The ability to come back after a hard fought first game to win in commanding fashion in game two is a testament to their mental fortitude and confidence in their abilities. Our AD carry Nini Nguyen, and support Connor Black, deserve a nod as they were asked to switch roles on short notice and with minimal practice we able to win their lane. St. Lawrence, now 2-1 on the season, will face Saint Rose next Saturday, February 20 at 3 p.m.
