Nathan Turtledove got a win in both the singles and doubles draws to pace the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team on Friday at the ITA Northeast Regional Tournament at Hobart College in Geneva, New York.
"We had a strong end to our fall season playing against some of the top competition in the country," said head coach
Neil Caniga "Our men competed very well throughout the fall season and I'm looking forward to our upcoming spring season."
The Saints had four players compete in the singles draw and sent one doubles teams to the regional event. In addition to Turtledove, the Scarlet and Brown had
Adam Heilbronner,
Broderick Pinto,
Edvin Strandberg, and
Nico Haet competing in the regional.
Turtledove won his first match of the singles draw 6-4, 6-1 over Nihal Kothari of Vassar College to move onto the second round later in the day. In round two, Turtledove was matched up against Harry Lyu of Hobart College with a trip to day two on the line. The two fought to a 6-2, 6-1 match in favor of Lyu, ending Turtledove's run.
Turtledove paired up with senior teammate Haet in the doubles draw and advanced to the second round of the event after defeating Jacob Myerson and Jake Wolicki of RIT 8-1. The duo would fall short of the quarterfinal round however as they fell to Theo Bourghelle and Nico Teynie of New Jersey City University 8-2.
