The St. Lawrence University Overwatch team posted their fourth National Association of Collegiate Esports win after topping Randolph-Mason College (RMC) 3-0 on Thursday night.
The first point opened on the Lijang Tower control map. The Saints gained the first percentage movement on the point and while the Yellow Jackets moved in on assault, the Saints continued to maintain control of the point, outlasting RMC 100-0 for the first point. Moving on to the second point, the Yellow Jackets earned the first pick and held the Saints at bay gaining 89 percent, but the Saints regained control and overtook the 96 percent that the Yellow Jackets had captured.
RMC's CarpeDiem earned Play of the Game honors for the first round.
The second point opened on the Junkertown payload map. With the Saints on defense to start, RMC was able to move the payload 73.94 meters after four minutes. On attack, the Saints made quick work of the payload, moving 41.08 meters in the first 30 seconds, and surpassing the Yellow Jackets mark with one minute remaining.
RMCDrift earned Play of the Game for the payload challenge.
The final point was contested on the King's Row hybrid map. The Yellow Jackets earned the first three points, reaching three checkpoints with the payload and gaining 70.27 meters. The Saints quickly captured their first point and with over five minutes on the clock made fast work escorting the payload. With 3:05 remaining, the Saints captured their third point to match the Yellow Jackets and with all four ultimate's and great alt usage the Saints were able to close the match with the win.
"Great work by our team against a closely matched opponent," said Saints' Overwatch coach Kyle Jicha. "Everyone played much cleaner and focused this evening to great effect, and it stands in sharp contrast to Monday's match. We're looking forward to our toughest match yet on Monday."
With tonight's win, the Saints improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in NACE play.
The Saints will return to action on Monday, October 19, taking on Bryant & Stratton College in a NACE matchup at 8 p.m.
