First-year Emily Wade scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season, the game winner, in the 30^th minute of Friday's Liberty League match to lead the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Bard in Annadale-on-Hudson, N.Y. Hannah Merriam and Julia Hill added second-half tallies for the Saints.

From the opening kickoff, the Saints put together a dominant offensive effort, outshooting the Raptors 24-4 with an overwhelming 17-2 advantage in shots on goal. Bard's goalkeeper Kelsey O'Brien made 14 saves in just over 83 minutes in goal for the Raptors on Friday afternoon.

"Bard defended very well today and while it took is some time to figure out how to capitalize on our chances, the team adjusted very well and scored some really nice goals," head coach Franco Bari '98 said. "One again, our group defense worked hard enough to preserve the shutout."

Wade's goal was a blast into the right upper 90. While O'Brien got a piece of it, she wasn't able to push it up over the bar to keep St. Lawrence off the board.

After carrying the 1-0 lead into the half, the Saints continued to pressure the Raptors in the final 45 minutes with Wade hitting Merriam on a breakaway in the 72^nd minute for the Saints second goal.

Hill added the third and final St. Lawrence marker in the 82^nd minute off a feed from Lindsay Geier. Hill converted a shot from 25-yards out for the 3-0 lead.

Junior goalkeeper Jackie Sovie made two saves in the shutout win, while defenders Amy Reunert, Kelly Mahoney, Samantha Taillon, Emily Sullivan and substitute Nikkie Syrotiak limited the Raptors to just four total shots and conceded only two corner kicks on the day.  

With the win, the Saints are now 6-1-2 overall and 1-1-0 in the Liberty League while Bard falls to 5-4-0 and 0-2-0 against conference opponents.

St. Lawrence will travel to Vassar tomorrow for a 2 p.m. conference matchup with the Brewers.
