Senior Jeremy Vautour scored six goals and now has 16 goals in the last three games as he led the St. Lawrence University Men's Lacrosse team, ranked No. 4 in the country in the latest USILA/Nike National Poll, to a convincing 15-5 victory over SUNY Potsdam Tuesday night in Potsdam.
Vautour and Conor Healey each scored in the first quarter as St. Lawrence (13-1) took an early 2-0 lead but then scored four times including two in man-up situations in the second quarter as the Saints broke the game open.
Voutour scored four times while Charlie Duprey, Brett McCormack, AJ Schmidt, Jon Fairbanks and Connor Brimley each scored once in the quarter as the Saints took a commanding 11-2 lead at halftime.
St. Lawrence goalie Ryan Fisher made three saves in the first half had a streak of 23 minutes without allowing a goal to start the game. He finished with six saves running his record to 13-1 on the season.
In the third quarter, the teams traded goals as Andrew Jarrett scored for the Saints. Jarrett finished with a goal and three assists.
In the final quarter Jordan Dow scored along with Vautour adding his sixth of the game in another man-up situation to round out the St. Lawrence scoring.
The Saints enjoyed a 61-22 shots advantage and a 32-11 shots on goal edge for the game. St. Lawrence won 14 of the 23 face offs as First Year Zachery Ettinghausen finished with 12 wins. Sam Sweeney picked up a team-leading six ground balls and Dow caused three turnovers for the Saints.
Offensively, Vautour led the way with his six points followed by Jarrett's four while Fairbanks, Healey and Brimley added two points each as 12 different Saints earned at least a point including sophomore Sam Boehle as he scored his first career goal.
The Saints return to Liberty League play Saturday at RPI with a 1 pm start.
