Biography
2017: Schmidt picked up 13 ground balls and caused six turnovers as a senior midfielder for the Saints… He appeared in 18 of 19 games and was a critical component to helping shut down opposing teams' high scoring offense throughout the season.
2016: Schmidt played in all 21 games as a defensive midfielder and finished with six points on four goals and two assists in his third season with the Saints … He also finished ninth on the team with 28 ground balls … Three of his four goals came in consecutive games as he scored once each in victories over Clarkson, Vassar and SUNY Potsdam … He recorded three ground balls against Castleton, Union, RPI and Springfield.
2015: Schmidt played in all 17 games and finished the season with two assists … He was sixth on the team with 31 groundballs and also caused five turnovers … His two assists came in the season opener against Castleton and in the 14-9 victory over Potsdam.
2014: Schmidt did not see action as a first year player for the Saints.
Prior to St. Lawrence
Schmidt was a dual-sport athlete, earning recognition in lacrosse and football. An honor roll student, he captained the lacrosse team and was both an All-American and team MVP in his senior season. A two-time all-state selection for lacrosse, Schmidt was also a three-year starter on the football squad.
