Laura Finley's walk-off bloop single to shallow center field in the bottom of the seventh helped the St. Lawrence softball team to a 4-3 win over Skidmore in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. The Thoroughbreds shut down the Saints in game two, earning the split with a 10-0 win in five innings.
The Saints are now 8-7 overall and 2-2 in Liberty League contests, while today's win in game two was Skidmore's first against a conference opponent this season; they're now 10-13 and 1-3.

Kyle Plimpton was the pitcher or record in both games for St. Lawrence, as she combined to throw 11 innings and struck out 14 batters on the day. First-year
Emma Gailey pitched one inning in the second game, allowing five hits.
The Saints plated a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning, as the Thoroughbreds made an error on a ground ball hit by Finley with two outs that allowed
Kylee Knight to score and kept the bases loaded.
Kelsey Murphy followed with a single to center field that brought
Emma Reakes around to score before
Taylor Owen was thrown out at the plate.
Skidmore tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth when Lizette Roman-Johnston tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a single by Lauren Fortunato. Cassie Fishkin's sacrifice bunt allowed the speedy Fortunato to advance to third and eventual score on a throwing error by the Saints.
The team's traded runs in the sixth and Plimpton shut down the Thoroughbreds in the top of the seventh to set up a game-winning opportunity in the bottom half of the frame.
Aisha O'Connor led off the inning with a single to left and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Reakes.
Hannah Sears singled up the middle to put runners on the corners for Finley, who delivered the game-winning RBI.
Game two was scoreless until the top of the third inning, when Skidmore put five across on five hits and one error before adding three in the fourth and their final two runs in the fifth inning. Pitcher Amanda Carilli allowed just four hits and struck out one in the win for the Thoroughbreds.
The Saints will return to the field for a home doubleheader against RIT on Wednesday afternoon.Â
