At Bedford: Murphy played softball and rowed as a member of the crew team in high school. She was a two-year varsity captain of the softball team and won the Bulldog MVP Award her senior year. Additionally, she was All-State honorable mention as a sophomore and second team All-State following her junior and senior seasons. Academically, she was a member of the National Honor Society and an honor roll student.
