Mar. 26: St. Lawrence University senior
Kara McDuffee has been named a Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III All America, the third player in SLU program history to earn WBCA All America honors.
McDuffee was named to the honorable mention list for Division III. The WBCA picks 10 players for its first team All America list from among 435 NCAA Division III women's teams with another 30 earning Honorable Mention.
McDuffee, the Liberty League Player of the Year, set a single-season record for rebounds with 343 and finished her career with 1,321 points, the fourth most in program history. She finished in the top 16 in the Liberty League in scoring, rebounding, steals, block shots, assists and free throw percentage. She averaged 14.1 points and 12.7 rebounds per game as a senior.
"I am incredibly excited for Kara and our program to receive this national recognition!" said Saint coach
Dan Roiger.  " Every time Kara stepped on the floor I knew the Saints would get her best effort, an incredible work ethic, and intensity and focus to do whatever was needed to win the game. When you watch Kara play over and over, you are always amazed at her making shots or getting rebounds or making defensive plays because you think there is no chance for her to get that one but she does anyhow.Â
" She is really a special player, and I am so proud of her every game, and now I am ecstatic that she has received the All-America recognition. I think everyone in our league and in our region realized she was playing at this level, but it is really nice to see her get the national recognition for all her hard work and effort! Congratulations to Kara, you have made the Saints proud!"
McDuffee joins 2009 graduate Katie Palmer and 2002 WBCA Player of the Year and first team All America Meredith Eisenhut as the only women's All Americas in SLU basketball history.
