The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team has added Hope Aniceto to the coaching staff. Joining veteran head coach Chris Downs as his graduate assistant coach beginning in the 2026-27 season.
Aniceto joins the Scarlet and Brown after wrapping up a decorated four-year career at SUNY Canton as a four-year starter.
"Hope has an infectious personality," said Saints head coach Chris Downs. "She is competitive, smart, driven, and is a tremendous hire for the women's basketball team. I look forward to see her impact on our group."
Aniceto was the pulse of the Roos during her time as a guard across town at SUNY Canton, where the Bolingbrook, Ill. native averaged double-figure points in three of her four seasons, including her junior year when the Roos shifted to the formidable SUNYAC conference. That move to SUNYAC play placed Aniceto and her teammates against consistently tougher competition, and her ability to maintain her scoring production through that transition speaks to both her skill level and her competitiveness, which are qualities Downs and the Saints program hope she will now instill in St. Lawrence's roster from the bench.
Beyond her playing career, Aniceto has already begun building coaching experience of her own. She spent time as a coach at the M14 Hoops Basketball Camp closer to home in Aurora, Ill. in 2022, serving as a skill-based drill facilitator at a premier developmental facility.
