The St. Lawrence University men's track and field team traveled to Williams College on Saturday for the F.I.R.E. meet, using the event as a tune-up and final qualifier opportunity ahead of next week's AARTFC championships.
Cyrus Goetze turned in the performance of the day for the Saints, setting a personal record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.38. Patrick Russell competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and finished eighth with a time of 9:27.29, just four seconds off his personal best. Nick Lyndaker ran the 1,500-meter in 3:52.82.
In the sprints, Spence Thoma clocked a 22.68 in the 200-meter dash.
In the field, Tucker Hall and Erik Schneider both competed in the javelin. Hall led the pair with a throw of 36.59 meters, narrowly missing his personal record by approximately two meters. Schneider posted a mark of 36.24 meters.
St. Lawrence will look to carry that momentum into the AARTFCÂ championships next weekend.
