The St. Lawrence men's track and field team closed out the Liberty League Championships with a pair of individual titles won by
Nick Lyndaker, as he took home Track Performer of the Meet honors in his final Liberty Leage competition, leading the Saints to a fifth-place finish in the team standings on Saturday at the Merrick-Pinkard Track and Field Complex.
Nick Lyndaker turned in the performance of the meet for the Saints, sweeping his distance events with championship victories in both the 1500-meter run and the 5000-meter run. Racing for the final time on his home track, Lyndaker won the 1500 in 3:57.26 before returning to claim gold in the 5000 with a time of 14:35.27, a dominant two-event effort that stood as the highlight of St. Lawrence's weekend.
Erik Marelli was also on the podium, finishing third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.74 to further add to the Saints' points total on the final day of competition.
In the field events,
John Mahoney placed seventh in the high jump with a clearance of 1.81 meters, while
Tucker Hall capped a grueling two-day decathlon effort with an eighth-place finish and a points total of 5,118.
On the track, the 4x100-meter relay squad of
Adam Lee,
Spencer Thoma,
Bodie Molnar, and
Kristofer Mellor ran a time of 43.84 to finish fifth, a solid showing from a group that will have plenty of opportunity to build on that result going forward.
St. Lawrence now turns its attention to the AARTFC Championships.
