Brooke Mulvihill earned ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team honors, and the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team ended their 2025-26 campaign in overtime of the opening round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament in February, finishing 11-21-3 overall and 8-13-1 in ECAC play.
The Saints, who earned the ninth seed, traveled to Cambridge, Mass. to take on eighth-seeded Harvard in the opening round.
Cheyenne Degeer struck first for the Saints and
Lilien Benakova gave SLU a 2-1 lead, but the Crimson tied the game midway through the third and eventually claimed the win in overtime to advance to the quarterfinals.
Including the opening round overtime, St. Lawrence played 12 overtime games and 17 one goal games this season.
"With the number of one-goal games and overtime games we had this season, we knew we were right there in so many games," said head coach
Chris Wells. "We were playing some of our best hockey toward the end of the year and unfortunately couldn't get beyond the opening round."Â
St. Lawrence was led by first-year Mulvihill, who tallied nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points. She was followed by fellow classmate
Rylan Haslam with a team-high 11 goals and four helpers for 15 points and senior captain
Kennedy Wilson with six goals and eight assists for 14 points. Wilson was also named St. Lawrence's nominee for the ECAC's Mandi Schwartz Student Athlete of the Year award.
With nine first years on the roster this season, five newcomers found their way into the top 10 scorers this season.
Goaltenders
Kassidy Lawrence and
Emma-Sofie Nordström shared time between the pipes in 2025-26. Both netminders earned a spot on the Hockey Commissioners Association Goalie of the Year Watch List, Lawrence finished the season with a 2.41 goals against average and a .922 save percentage, while Nordström wrapped up the season with a 2.25 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.
Nordström closed out her Scarlet and Brown career with a 1.96 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. Her save percentage ranks second and her career goals against ranks third overall in the Saints record book. Her 2,398 saves, her 15 career shutouts and her 51 career wins all rank fourth.
Highlights to the Saints season include an ESPN SportsCenter shootout goal from junior captain
Abby Hehl, two 2-1 overtime victories over Dartmouth with both game winners scored by Wilson, a series sweep of RPI and Union, and a 3-1 upset win over No. 5 Quinnipiac.
The Saints graduate three of their captains, Wilson, Nordström, and
Kiley Mastel, along with graduate transfer
Alexa Davis this spring.
"Many players had very solid years and improved throughout the season," Wells added. "The seniors will leave having enjoyed a tremendous college hockey experience during their time and the underclassmen know that next year will bring another exciting season to Appleton Arena."
