The St. Lawrence University men's track and field team completed the bulk of their season with
Cyrus Goetze running the 800-meter run and coming up with a career-best outing on Saturday at The Armory in New York City.
Goetze placed first in his heat to exceed expectations, placing 15
th overall in the packed field of runners who hit the AARTFC standard. He crossed the finish line in a personal-record time of 1:56.81.
"Cy ran a huge PR in the 800 and beat his seed by a long shot," said Saints head coach
John Newman. "He ran a very spirited race and finished with a strong push in the fourth lap to win his heat."
St. Lawrence now awaits the reveal of NCAA entries to determine whether they will be sending athletes to the NCAA championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
