Tallis Tarbell scored twice for the Saints, as the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 8 William Smith 13-4 on Saturday afternoon in Canton, N.Y.
Tarbell led the Scarlet and Brown with two goals, while
Cate Rathnam finished with a goal and an assist.
Lily Stanton also scored, while
Hannah Jackson picked up four ground balls.
Winnie Downs recorded three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Grace Rund scored for the Herons and she was matched by Tarbell for a 1-1 tie early on. Taryn Luzi scored on the woman-up to put William Smith up 2-1 after the first quarter.
The Herons shutout the Saints 5-0 in the second frame to take a 7-1 lead at halftime.
William Smith continued their strong play in the second half, scoring four goals in the third and one in the fourth to finish with a 13-4 win over the Saints.
Cat Colvin led Union William Smith with two goals and an assist.
Zoe Froimovitz made 11 saves for the Saints, while Casey Fiore made eight saves for the Herons.
The Herons led in shots on goal (18-9) and draw controls (16-3). SLU finished with a 17-16 edge in ground balls, while both teams recorded caused turnovers.
William Smith improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in league play, while SLU fell to 3-5 and 1-2.
St. Lawrence travels to Boston to play RPI at MIT on Saturday, March 28 at 4 p.m.
