The Saints had a super Sunday, dominating up and down the lineup as the St. Lawrence University women's squash team won 8-1 against Hamilton at the Robie Squash Center.
St. Lawrence improved to 8-4 with the win, while Hamilton dropped to 6-9.
The Scarlet and Brown faced little resistance at the top, winning the top-four matches 3-0.
At one,
Angel Otshabeng took on Eleanor Bunn and won 11-2, 11-3, 11-7, while
Eboni Atherley dismantled Poppy Huffman 11-7, 11-5, 11-2 at number two.
Madeleine Martin played three against Diya Dhillon and won 11-9, 11-2, 11-5. Then at four,
Laura Franz lined up with Lily Spencer and took the 11-6, 12-10, 11-6 victory.
Katherine Callaway joined the top-four with a 3-0 at six, beating Sydney Hellinger 11-8, 11-6, 11-8.
Khissaiyia Spencer and
Ksenia Merkulova each took 3-1 wins at five and seven, respectively.
Spencer faced Chiara Nadel and lost the opening game before winning the final three 11-3, 11-0, 11-6. Merkulova was tasked with Gardner Huston, and much like her teammate, she lost the opening match before winning the next three by the score of 11-9, 11-8, 11-6.
Hamilton took a win at nine, but in the last match of the day,
Emma Kahle secured the 9-1 win with a five-game thriller. Kahle took on Mila Karimov and lost the first two games to put her on the brink of a loss. She came all the way back with 11-9, 11-7, 11-6 wins to snatch the win from the hands of defeat.
St. Lawrence will be back on the court next weekend when it hosts the Liberty League Tournament at the Robie Squash Center. The team will be on the hunt for its second consecutive title after winning the championship last season. The Liberty League Tournament will start on Saturday, February 14.
