Lyndaker Breaks Own 3000-Meter Program Record, Leading Slew of PRs at Ocean Breeze

The St. Lawrence University men's track and field team were sparked by another historic performance from Nick Lyndaker at their Fastrack National Invitational meet on Friday.

Lyndaker shattered the program record in the 3000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 8:07.21 to take first place. The run beats his own previous program record by three seconds, which had been set almost exactly a calendar year prior on February 7, 2025. This performance further solidifies his standing as one of the premier distance runners in the history of the program.

"We had a long but fruitful day at Ocean Breeze with personal bests from the vast majority of the team," said Saints head coach John Newman. "Nick ran a surgical race and put himself in great position in the final couple laps to close for the win. Pat came back in just our second event on the track to pull away from the field and get a win of his own in the Invitational 5000-meter. He made a solo push in the second half of the race to out distance the field and clinch a PR. Today was a big springboard for the team and the coaching staff was excited about all the PRs."

Joining him in the winner's circle was Patrick Russell, who claimed victory in the 5000-meter run. Russell clocked a personal-best time of 14:50.06, leading the field and showcasing the Saints' depth in the long-distance events.

The 3000-meter run proved to be a productive event for the entire roster, as three additional Saints secured personal bests. Brody Mindel led that group with a time of 9:26.28, followed closely by Aidan Fay at 9:28.28. Luke Calvin also notched a career mark, finishing the race in 9:47.39.

In the sprints, Colin Ruddy delivered a standout performance in the 400-meter dash. Ruddy powered through the two-lap race to secure a personal-best time of 51.33. Meanwhile, Caleb Young continued to be a force on the track, competing in the 200-meter dash and adding to the team's overall momentum with a strong sprint finish.

St. Lawrence has a quick turnaround as they send a group of runners to the Plattsburgh Sprint and Field Meet on Tuesday, February 10.
