The Class of 2026 led the way, going 4-0, as the St. Lawrence University women's squash team defeated Bates 8-1 on Sunday afternoon in the Robie Squash Center.
St. Lawrence improved to 12-5 on the year with the win, while Bates fell to 4-9.
Prior to the match, the squash programs celebrated the graduating Class of 2026 for Senior Day in
Laura Franz,
Emma Kahle,
Madeleine Martin,
Ksenia Merkulova, and
Lilly Ritchie.
Franz, Merkulova, and Kahle all celebrated the occasion with 3-0 sweeps at the five through seven spots.
Franz took on Neha Taneja, winning 11-8, 11-9, 11-6, while Merkulova lined up against Maeve Mufson, and secured an 11-6, 11-4, 11-1 victory. Kahle occupied the seventh spot in the ladder and defeated Andrew Perez 11-1, 11-1, 11-1 in a speedy 11-minute match.
Martin completed the perfect 4-0 day for the senior class in the number four spot as she defeated Angelina 11-4, 10-12, 11-5, 11-4.
In the number two spot,
Eboni Atherley faced Tia Billimoria and won her match 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 11-7. In the final match of the day,
Angel Otshabeng was in the number one match against Aasya Patel and won the first and third games en route to a winner-take-all fifth game. The sophomore clutched up in the final game, 11-7, to take the match.
St. Lawrence won two matches by default to secure the 8-1 win.Â
St. Lawrence will be back in action next weekend when the team heads to Philadelphia, Pa. to take part in the CSA Team Nationals, the final event on their 2025-26 schedule.
