The Saints picked up six sweeps on the day as the St. Lawrence University women's squash team defeated William Smith 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Robie Squash Center.
St. Lawrence improved to 11-5 with the win, while William Smith fell to 2-15.
St. Lawrence raced out to an early 3-0 lead, winning at two, six, and seven.
Madeleine Martin, who played in the two spot, took on Tamia Rollaing and won her match 11-5, 11-3, 11-2, while
Emma Kahle played at six and beat Ashley Ambrosio 11-1, 11-1, 11-1. At seven,
Azaa Regmi also won her match 3-0, beating Sadie Sanchez 11-6, 11-1, 11-1.
Next up for St. Lawrence were
Laura Franz and
Khissaiyia Spencer, who picked up wins at three and four, respectively. Franz lined up against Scarlett Sandoval and won 11-1, 11-3, 11-1, while Spencer took the 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 win over Kimberly Javier.
In the fifth spot,
Katherine Callaway was tasked with defeating Danie DeZart and won handily 11-2, 11-1, 11-3.
At eight,
Lilly Ritchie took on Amalia Clemente and won the first and third games en route to a winner-take-all fifth game. Clemente took the match, however, with an 11-9 win. At one,
Mariam Dodd also went to five games in her match against Jada Smith-Padmore, after winning the first two games. Smith-Padmore took the deciding game 11-4 for the win.
St. Lawrence will be back on the court tomorrow at noon when they host Bates in their final match of the regular season. The Squash programs will celebrate the Class of 2026 for Senior Day, starting at 11:15 a.m.
