Trio of Saints Claim Wins; Men's Squash Falls 6-3 at Bowdoin

Mina Wasseem, Patrick Walford, and Alexander Scott all battled for wins, but the St. Lawrence University men's squash team fell to Bowdoin College, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon in Brunswick, Maine.

St. Lawrence fell to 3-6 overall, while Bowdoin improved to 5-8.

At one, Wasseem took on Fotis Zafiriou and won the first game 11-4, before the match evened at 1-1. The first-year took the next two games 11-7, 11-5 for the 3-1 victory.

In the fourth spot, Walford had a marathon match with William Maschler that took over an hour and a half. Walford won the first game but went down 2-1 to put his back against the wall. He would persevere, forcing a fifth game with an 11-4 win, then secured the match in a 15-13 thriller.

Scott occupied the fifth spot in the ladder and took on Jai Karande. After winning the first two games 11-5, 11-4, Scott's opponent was forced to retire, giving him the win.

St. Lawrence will complete their weekend trip tomorrow when they head to Massachusetts to take on Amherst College at 11:30 a.m.
