The Saints saw wins up and down the ladder as the St. Lawrence University men's squash team opened the semester with a 9-0 sweep against Brown on Thursday afternoon at the Robie Squash Center.
The Scarlet and Brown improved to 3-3 on the season with the win.
On the Dordelman Championship Court,
Mina Wasseem occupied the number one spot and swept Harrison Yang 11-6, 11-6, 11-7. Also on the court was
Emirhan Sen, who played at two against Sean Magee. Sen won the first two games before dropping the third, but he bounced back with an 11-4 victory to take the match. In the last match on the glass,
Miguel Posada Villa took on Tim Cassidy at three, and dropped the first game 11-7 before winning the next three to take a 3-1 win.
At four,
Alexander Scott took on Isaac Dahan at four and won 7-11, 11-5, 11-4, 11-3, while
Patrick Walford swept Dawson Lin at five 11-7, 11-6, 11-7. In the longest match of the day,
Harrison Callaway and Archer Gould were even after four games and went to a winner-take-all fifth game, where Callaway took an 11-8 win for the match.
St. Lawrence dominated at the bottom of the ladder with
Athrva Yadav,
Gavin Cassidy, and
Dmitry Stepanenko all sweeping their matches 3-0 to complete the 9-0 day.
St. Lawrence will be back on court at the Robie Squash on Saturday, January 17, when the Saints host Franklin & Marshall.
