Molly Jespersen and Ariane Karera each advanced to the Final of their respective flights, and three doubles teams advanced to the semifinals to lead the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team at the Union Invitational, hosted by Union in Schenectady, N.Y.

In the A singles flight, Jespersen began her run strongly, defeating Ithaca's Alys Pop 0-6, 7-5, (10-7) in the quarterfinals and went on to win in the semifinals, taking down Union's Skyler Semon 6-4, 6-3. Jespersen will take on New Paltz's Samantha Ostrander tomorrow morning for the flight final.

Over in the B flight, Karera also earned wins against New Paltz and Union opponents to advance. In the quarters, she defeated Sydney Sladicka 6-1, 6-0, then in the semis took down Union's Calista Finkelstein 6-1, 6-3 to advance. Karera will take on Ithaca's Madeleine Sutro tomorrow morning for the flight.

Elisa Iuri also played in the B flight, winning 2-6, 6-2, (10-6) over Union's Megan McCusker in the quarterfinals, before falling 5-7, 6-0, (8-10) in the semis.

Much like Iuri, Eleanor McDermed advanced past the quarters in the C flight, winning 6-2, 3-6, (10-5) over Ithaca's Martina Nicora, but fell in the semifinals to end her run.

Over in doubles, Jespersen and Angelica Aksdal-Jansen combined to dominate their matchup against Sutro and Aenessa Rylski, 8-0, to advance to tomorrow's semifinals, where they take on Union's Alexis and Meidani.

In the B draw, the Saints saw two teams advance to tomorrow's semifinals. Abigail Sicuranza and Kate Butler combined to defeat New Paltz's Nina Genzone and Angelica Gabriel 8-6, while Sarah Oldland and Iuri took on Union's Sydney Alphabet and Jennifer Park, winning 8-4. Both doubles pairings will continue their run tomorrow afternoon.
