St. Lawrence University head men's lacrosse coach
Mike Mahoney '93 has announced the addition of two assistant coaches for the 2025-26 season,
John O'Connor M'25 and
Padraic Condon '25.
"I feel very fortunate to have assembled another high-quality coaching staff for the upcoming season," said Mahoney. "They are both fully committed to the development of our players, both on and off the field."
O'Connor rejoins the men's lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant coach, having served as the team's graduate assistant coach while obtaining a Master's degree during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
Prior to joining the Saints program, O'Connor served as the Director of Sweetlax Florida Lacrosse Club and the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach at his high school alma mater, Salisbury School in Connecticut, winning two WNEPSLA Championships and earning two trips to the Geiko National Championship. At Salisbury, he worked with the Athletic Department as Assistant Athletic Director and with the Admissions Department as Director of Outreach.
O'Connor holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware. Playing for the Blue Hens, John was the team's top short stick defensive midfielder and one of the top players in his position in the CAA. He earned preseason All-CAA honors by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. He played in 47 career games and recorded two goals, two assists, 111 ground balls and 40 caused turnovers. At the time of his graduation he ranked in the top ten all-time for career caused turnovers at UD. His teammates selected him as MVP in his senior year for his defensive tenacity, speed and game changing ability.
A Canton, N.Y. native, O'Connor was a three sport varsity athlete in soccer, hockey and lacrosse at Canton High School and an all section performer before moving on to Salisbury School for his final three years. At Salisbury John also played three varsity sports, most notably he played midfield under head coach Bobby Wynne, winning two WNEPSLA championships and earning first team All-New England honors in his senior year.
"John has been an integral part of our success over the last two seasons, including helping to develop the Division III Goalie of the Year last year. Our players and I are very excited to have him back in an expanded role, as both a defensive and recruiting coordinator."
Condon was a four-year starter and pivotal component to the Saints' offense at the faceoff dot. He played in 75 games, won 918 faceoffs for a 63.4 win percentage, picked up 601 ground balls, scored 20 goals, added 13 assists, and caused 11 turnovers.
A three-time USILA All-American, Condon also garnered All-Region, All-Liberty League, USILA Team of the Week, Liberty League Performer of the Week, and Rookie of the Week honors across all four seasons in Scarlet and Brown.
Condon graduated from St. Lawrence with his bachelor's degree in history with a minor in Performance and Communication Arts.
"It is great to have Paddy back with us in a coaching capacity. As a former captain and one of the most decorated players in school history, he has instant credibility with the team. He will obviously play a pivotal role in overseeing the face off unit, along with many other responsibilities that will positively impact all aspects of our program."
As a member of the coaching staff and as a player, O'Connor and Condon both helped the Saints to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the past two seasons.
The Saints will begin prepping for the spring 2026 season, as fall ball action starts next week.
