A pair of Thoroughbred goals less than two minutes apart in the first half sent the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 2-0 loss to Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
St. Lawrence fell to 2-6-0 with the loss, and 0-2-0 in the Liberty League, while Skidmore improved to 4-1-3 and 1-0-1 in league action.
Both teams had chances in the opening 13 minutes, with both squads getting looks on goal.
Zach Amato stopped a Tobias Catizone chance, while
Baker Diaz was stopped on the other end by David Zampese.
Skidmore ended up striking twice in the first half, with Connor Mansfield opening the scoring in the 18th minute off a feed from Catizone. Less than two minutes later, Dylan Moore doubled the Thoroughbreds' lead with an unassisted tally after Amato stopped the first chance.
Despite a stronger second-half showing, the Saints couldn't find the back of the net.

Kyle Reddish combined for five shots on goal, but couldn't find the twine.
Despite the score, St. Lawrence outshot Skidmore 10-5 overall, held a 5-4 edge in shots on goal, and led 5-3 in corner kicks.
Amato came up with two saves in the contest, while Skidmore goalkeeper David Zampese made four saves to preserve the shutout.
The Scarlet and Brown will be back on the pitch on Wednesday, October 1, when the team heads to Potsdam, N.Y. to take on their Route 11 Rivals, Clarkson in a 6 p.m. match under the lights.
