Rogan’s Hat Trick Powers Women's Soccer Past Roos in 7–0 Rout

Junior Zoe Rogan netted a hat trick to lead the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a dominant 7–0 victory over SUNY Canton on Tuesday night at the SUNY Canton Turf Field.

With the win, the Scarlet and Brown improved to 3-1-2 on the season, while the Roos dropped to 0-7-0. The seven-goal outburst marked the Saints' highest scoring performance since a 7–0 win over SUNY Potsdam in the 2022 North Country Classic.

"It was a nice team win tonight," said head coach Dima Kaliakin. "We got contributions from many players, who stepped up in different roles throughout the match."

The Saints wasted no time getting on the board, striking in the fifth minute when Kaitlyn Barton intercepted a pass and threaded a perfect ball to Madison King-Thurber, who outraced the defense and slotted home the opener.

In the 18th minute, Sofia Manne found Barton down the right side, and the senior delivered a pinpoint pass to Meredith Donahue, who finished low and past the keeper to double the lead. Barrett Freeman added a third in the 38th minute, beating a defender down the right wing and scoring at the near post for her second goal of the season.

Rogan took over early in the second half, scoring twice in the opening 12 minutes. Her first came just 31 seconds after the restart, finishing a cross from Lily Pleau with a left-footed strike. She added her second on a penalty kick after Sydney Keenan was fouled in the box.

Pleau continued her strong play in the 86th minute, saving a ball on the end line and finding first-year Aver Asom for her first collegiate goal. Rogan completed her hat trick in the 89th minute, blasting a shot into the top bin off a pass from Ella McPhaul, who also earned her first career point with an assist.

Goalkeepers Zoe Davenport and Reagan Murphy split time evenly in the net, each making a save to preserve the combined clean sheet. Canton's Mackenzie Ryan made a career-high 18 saves in a valiant effort.

St. Lawrence outshot the Roos 38-3, including a 25-2 edge in shots on goal, and held a 5–0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Saints return to action on Saturday, September 20, hosting SUNY Cortland at 3 p.m. on Laurentian Weekend at Sandy MacAllaster Field.
