Box Score Maya Stepic and
Kate Butler came away with the B doubles consolation final to pace the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team on the final day of the Mary Hosking Invitational on the campus of William Smith.
In the B doubles consolation, Stepic and Butler advanced to the final via a bye and took on Anika Galkiewicz and Amulya Settyvari. The St. Lawrence tandem took the final 6-3 for the consolation bracket.
In the main draw of the A doubles,
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and
Molly Jespersen defeated Taylor Chandler and Kayla Wheeler 6-3 in the semifinals to advance to the bracket final. In said final, the senior duo took on Kira Kronenberg and Maya McDaniel and fell 6-3.
Over in the A consolation for doubles,
Eleanor McDermed and
Ariane Karera took a 6-3 win over Lauren Kallas and Lilly Caldwell, but fell in the final 6-3.
In singles play, Aksdal-Jansen and Jespersen each competed in the A semifinals but didn't have the success they hoped for as they fell 8-5 and 8-3, respectively.
Elisa Iuri also competed in the semifinals for the B bracket, taking on Juliette Ceas. The match went to a tiebreak, where Ceas moved on with an 8-7 (5) win.
The Scarlet and Brown will have next week off and will return to the court on September 26 for the ITA Northeast Regionals.
