Charlotte Blake led the St. Lawrence University women's cross country team with a standout performance at the Hamilton Short Course Invitational, finishing second overall in 14:37.0 to pace the Saints to a third overall finish in the four-kilometer race.
"We had a nice outing on the 4K course today," said Saints head coach
Kate Howard. "We were out conservatively and raced the middle portion of the course very well to put us in a great position with 1000 meters to go. Although we weren't able to hold on for the team win, we made some great strides in our racing tactics. We've got some great takeaways from our race today as we look ahead to the full 6000m distance at home on the Hoffmann course next weekend."
Blake was followed by
Quinn Sirgany, who placed ninth in 15:06.7, and
Avery Blanchard, who finished 11th in 15:08.4.
Madison Beaudoin continued her strong start to collegiate competition with a 24th-place finish in 15:33.6.
Cameran Stone crossed in 33rd with a time of 15:46.7, while
Elle Waite finished 36th in 15:49.6.
Carly Zack placed 43rd in 16:02.4.
Each member of the Saints' top seven finishers ran a four-kilometer personal record in the race.
The Saints head home to the Hoffmann Invitational next weekend, as the team's home meet is scheduled for Saturday, September 20.
