The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team competed in SLU Twilight Invite at home Friday evening in Canton, N.Y., taking a first-place finish in the team scoring for the first time in the outdoor season.
"We saw some great performances on the track and in the field tonight," said Saints head coach
Kate Howard. "Competing here at home prior to championships and honoring our seniors at the same time is pretty special. We're seeing our best performances of the season coming at the right time so we're creating some great momentum going into championships next weekend."
Samantha Legate took a win away from her 200-meter dash, recording a victory in the event with a time of 27.27 and setting a personal record in the process.
In the field events, the Scarlet and Brown has two podium finishers in the discus throw, as
Lola Buckley claimed second by throwing 28.51 meters, and
Eva Gaetano was in third by throwing 27.43 meters.
Amelia Berthold claimed fourth in the long jump while
Lyla Baldwin claimed fifth.
The quartet of
Isla Bougard Duncan,
Caelan McHarney,
Samantha Legate, and
Lydia Wamsganz won the 4x100 with their time of 50.89.
Caelan McHarney had a second-place finish in the 400-meter with her time of 1:00.76. She also placed third in the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 27.68. Both were personal-bests for McHarney.
The Scarlet and Brown now look ahead towards the Liberty League Outdoor Championships, starting on Friday, May 2, in Rochester N.Y.
