Twelve Saints scored as the St. Lawrence women's lacrosse team put on an offensive clinic in a 21-1 win against Bard in Liberty League play on Saturday at North Country Field in Canton, N.Y.
St. Lawrence improves to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Bard falls to 0-10 and 0-4, respectively.
Jessica LaPlaca and
Ellie Camp led the way with four goals, while Kiera Dodd,
Ava O'Rourke, and
Cate Rathnam both recorded two goals of their own.
Eliza D'Agostino,
Camryn Sipher, and
Lily Stanton each recorded their first career goals, as
Read Roy,
Kelsey Roth,
Neve Ley, and
Ashley Mudd found the back of the net along with them.
On defense,
Gabs Cloutier had a team-high four caused turnovers, as she and D'Agostino both picked up three ground balls.
The Saints shut out Bard in the first quarter of play, scoring five straight goals without an answer. LaPlaca recoded a hat trick, while Rathnam and Roth each contributed a goal to grab a 5-0 lead.
St. Lawrence started off the second with two goals back-to-back from Roy and LaPlaca to put them up seven. Emerson Embrey got Bard on the board off a free position shot to make it a 7-1 game with 10:32 left in the half. The Scarlet and Brown then proceeded to go on another five-goal run, with Dodd scoring twice, while Mudd, D'Agostino, and Stanton also scored to make it 12-1 at halftime.
The Saints shut out Bard once again, as they put in six straight goals in the third. Camp scored twice, while Ley, Sipher, Rathnam, and O'Rourke put in a goal each for a 18-1 game going into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Camp recorded back-to-back goals, and O'Rourke scored once more to seal the game, as the Saints pick up the 21-1 win.
Keating Gullott made one save on the day, as Keira Redmond had 10 saves for Bard.
St. Lawrence will be on the road for their next match, as they will face William Smith College in conference play on Friday, April 4th at 4 p.m. in Geneva N.Y.
