For more than a decade, Leveraging the Student-Athlete Experience has connected St. Lawrence University student-athletes with accomplished alumni, offering career insights and networking opportunities. Originally designed to help student-athletes translate their collegiate experiences into professional success, the event has grown into a signature program, equipping students with the tools and connections to navigate life after graduation.

A collaboration between Intercollegiate Athletics & Recreation and the Center for Career Excellence, this annual event brings alumni back to campus to share how their time at St. Lawrence shaped their careers.

This year's event took place this past Sunday, March 9, at the Legends of Appleton Room on the campus of St. Lawrence University. This year's decorated panel included:

• Sydney Giacin '21 (Field Hockey) – Senior Account Manager, New Jersey Devils
• Mark Mahoney '23 (Men's Lacrosse, Men's Hockey) – CLO Credit Analyst, Pretium
• Kieran Miller '17 (Men's Basketball) – Senior Director, JLL
• Hannah Schwoebel '22 (Women's Basketball) – Club Marketing Coordinator, NFL

The event opened with a networking session where student-athletes had the opportunity to interact with the panelists in an informal setting. This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by St. Lawrence Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Franco Bari. The alumni shared insights on their professional journeys, the impact of their student-athlete experience, and strategies for career development.

A Q&A session allowed student-athletes to ask specific questions, further exploring topics such as networking and industry trends. Panelists emphasized the value of leadership, teamwork, time management, and resilience – qualities honed through their life expierence as student-athletes.

Beyond career advice, the event served as a powerful networking opportunity, reinforcing the strength of the Laurentian alumni network. The alumni reflected on their time at St. Lawrence and the role it played in shaping their professional paths, while current students gained valuable perspectives on life after graduation.
