Patrick Walford got the lone win for the Saints as the No. 25 St. Lawrence University men's squash team lost 8-1 against the No. 15 Naval Academy during their home opener on Friday at the Robie Squash Center.
St. Lawrence fell to 2-3 with the decision, while Navy improved to 14-0.
Walford came from behind after dropping the first set to get the win for the Saints. He took on Andrew Ko in the fifth spot and went down 1-0 in the first game 13-15, but then won three straight at 11-7, 11-9, and 11-7.
Mina Wasseem occupied the number one spot and lost 2-3 to Wenqing Tang in a highly competitive match. After splitting the first four games, Tang took the fifth game 12-10 to take the match.
Following him,
Emirhan Sen, in the number two spot, took on Christian Graziano and also fell in five games. Sen took a 2-1 lead but fell in the fourth and fifth games to take the win.
Miguel Posada Villa in the three spot took one set from his opponent, Alexander Orr, 11-5, but then lost the match 1-3.
The Saints will be back at home on January 15 at 12 p.m. against Brown at the Robie Squash Center.
