The Saints began their campaign on the right foot as the St. Lawrence University women's squash team swept Chatham 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh, Pa.
St. Lawrence improved to 1-0, while Chatham fell to 0-2.
All but one of the Saints' matches were 3-0 sweeps on the day in the victory.
At number one,
Angel Otshabeng defeated Clara Braga 11-7, 11-8, 11-6, while at number three, fellow sophomore
Mariam Dodd won her match 11-4, 11-6, 11-4 against TaNiya Nored.
The Scarlet and Brown continued to cruise in the bottom half of the bracket.
Laura Franz,
Katherine Callaway,
Khissaiyia Spencer, and
Emma Kahle occupied the four through seven spots, and all took 3-0 victories.
The closest match of the day came in the number two spot, where
Eboni Atherley took on Sofia Pinto Combita. Â Atherley and her opponent traded wins, and in the final game, the Saints' first-year won 11-7 to take the win.
The Scarlet and Brown will be back on court on Friday, November 21, when the team heads to New London, Conn., to take on Connecticut College.
