The St. Lawrence University women's cross country team took on a massive and highly competitive field at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University, on Friday, with many nationally-ranked programs and hundreds of runners competing.
"We raced with some of the top ranked teams in the nation today and we gained some valuable experience," said
Kate Howard, St. Lawrence women's cross country head coach. "We came out ahead of many teams that are ranked highly in their respective regions. As a team, this was our best race so far this season and will serve as a good confidence builder as we look ahead to Conn in two weeks."
Charlotte Blake led the way for St. Lawrence in the six-kilometer white race, placing 61st overall with a time of 22:24.7 over the 6K course, just one second off her personal best. Fellow junior
Quinn Sirgany followed closely behind in 80th place, finishing in 22:36.8, a personal record by nearly 50 seconds.
Avery Blanchard was the third Saint across the line, clocking 23:05.4 to finish 133rd.
Carly Zack and
Madison Beaudoin rounded out the scoring five, both setting personal records. Zack finished in 23:36.6, while Beaudoin, a first-year, recorded her six-kilometer collegiate PR in her Paul Short debut with a time of 23:46.5.
Also competing for the Saints were
Cameran Stone,
Elle Waite,
Berit Meyers,
Paige Poirier, and
Alivia Hopsicker. Stone, Waite, Meyers, and Poirier each recorded personal bests.
Held each year at Lehigh University on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course, the Paul Short Run is recognized as one of the largest and most competitive cross country meets in the nation. The 2025 event marked its 51st edition and brought together more than 7,000 athletes representing over 600 high schools and colleges from across the country.
The meet featured a deep and talented pool of Division III programs, creating a championship-caliber atmosphere that provided valuable racing experience for teams preparing for the postseason.
