Quinn Sirgany and Avery Blanchard had victories for the St. Lawrence University women's track and field team at the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational on Saturday, as the team returned to action for 2025 with the road meet in Vermont.

Saints head coach Kate Howard said her team's results exceeded her expectations.

"We kicked off the 2025 portion of our indoor season in a really nice spot today," said Howard. "We expected this meet to be a bit of a rust buster, but we are pleased to see matched or improved performances from our first meet back in December. We've had a productive block of training back together on campus this past week and we're looking forward to keeping it rolling as we officially get started with the spring semester this upcoming week."

Sirgany claimed first place in the mile run with an impressive time of 5:22.73. Avery Blanchard also delivered a dominant showing, earning first place in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:45.65, while teammate Adriana Cecchetelli followed closely behind to take second place at 11:00.79. That's a 15-second victory for Blanchard.

In the field events, Eva Gaetano secured a third-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 9.26 meters. Amelia Berthold added a fourth-place performance in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.97 seconds.

The Saints also excelled in the relay events, with the team of Berthold, Cameran Stone, Elena Trempe, and Kayleigh McCullen combining for a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, clocking in at 4:41.62.

Overall, St. Lawrence was third in the event in the team score.

The Saints will look to build on this momentum as they continue their season next weekend.
