Box Score First-year
Elisa Iuri led the way for the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team picking up a pair of singles and doubles wins on day two of the St. Lawrence University Invitational at the Sammis Tennis Courts on Sunday.
In singles play, Iuri had a pair of matches against SUNY Cortland's Massoni and Thut and came away 2-0. Iuri made quick work of both matches winning 6-0, and 6-1 respectively.
Also picking up two singles wins were
Ellie Fritz and
Kate Butler. Fritz won 6-1 and 6-0 matches against the Red Dragons' Repass. Meanwhile, Butler took on Thut first winning 6-4, then won a tiebreak to defeat Stanley 7-6 (7).
Ashlyn Strobel picked up her first singles win at St. Lawrence taking on Fuerbacher. The first-year claimed the win with a score of 6-4.
Sarah Oldland rounded out the singles wins with a victory of her own against Fuerbacher. Oldland wound up with the 6-1 score for the victory.
In doubles play, Iuri and Fritz picked up two wins as a tandem defeating Green and Madigan 4-0, then Repass and Thut 4-1.
The Saints will wrap up their Fall schedule next weekend when the team heads to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. for the ITA Northeast Regionals at Skidmore College beginning Friday, September 20.
