Defensive lineman Thomas Our was named St. Lawrence's MVP helping lead the St. Lawrence University football team to a 20-9 win over Norwich University, bringing the Hoffman Cup back to the North Country under the lights at Sabine Field in Norwich, Vt.

The win marked the fourth-straight Hoffman Cup win for the Saints, and improved their record to 1-1 on the season, while the Cadets fell to 0-2.

Our finished with six, including two sacks for the loss of 19 yards, both in the fourth quarter. He also recorded one quarterback hurry. Also defensively, Savino Morelli picked up nine tackles.

Mark Rodeo went 14-for-19 for 150 yards, while senior Captain Oskar Baldwin finished with five catches for 40 yards. Will Lederman controlled the ground game with 98 yards on 20 attempts.

The first points on the scoreboard were a 25-yard field goal from Clayton Fogler.

With one minute and 47 seconds left in the first, Lederman ran in for a one-yard touchdown. Fogler's kick was good to give St. Lawrence a 10-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.

A bobbled snap on a punt attempt from the Cadets to start the second quarter, led to a turnover and a chance for the Saints to capitalize on good field position.

Rodeo connected with Baldwin for a 22-yard pass and the Saints second touchdown and the 17-0 lead, just 10 seconds into the second quarter.

Norwich closed the first half with a three-yard rush from Mike Cascarano. The kick was no good and the Saints held a 17-6 lead at the break.

Both teams took a defensive stance in the third quarter, resulting in no points for either side.

Norwich scored early in the fourth with a 30-yard field goal from Jace McCarron and the defensive battle continued with two huge sacks from Our. The final points of the game came off the foot of Fogler with a 20-yard kick for the 20-9 final.

Cadets' quarterback Aidan Sullivan passed 18-for-29 for 85 yards. Jeremy Henault led the defense with seven tackles, while Madux McGrath picked off two passes.

St. Lawrence finished with a 13-11 edge in first downs and finished with a 244-105 spread in total offense. The Scarlet and Brown also recorded five sacks for the loss of 33 yards. Norwich converted on 2-of-5 fourth down opportunities.

The Saints will return home to host Western New England with their second night game of the season on Laurentian Weekend, Friday, September 20 at 7 p.m.
