The Saints were consistent up and down the lineup as the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 win over RIT on Saturday afternoon in the Newell Field House.
St. Lawrence improved to 7-6 with the win and 2-2 in Liberty League play, while RIT fell to 5-4 and 1-1 in league play.
In doubles, the Scarlet and Brown were perfect, going 3-0. At number one,
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and
Molly Jespersen took on Kira Kronenberg and Maya Clinard and came away with an 8-4 win. In the second spot, the Karera sisters Ariane and Yvette came away with a quick 8-1 win over Abbie Murray and Jackie Drozd. Then at three, in the closest match,
Elena Styliades and
Abigail Sicuranza faced off against Anika Galkiewicz and Gabby Donahue and battled to a tight 8-7 (7-5) win.
In singles, Jespersen,
Ariane Karera, and
Yvette Karera all earned their second win of the day winning 2-0.
In the five spot,
Maya Stepic lined up against Drozd and after losing the first set 6-4, bounced back for a 6-1 win to tie the match. The win was secured by Stepic, who won the marathon 14-12 set.
At six,
Meredith Macey won her first set against Galkiewicz before heading to a third set which she would win 10-4 for the victory.
The Scarlet and Brown will be back in action tomorrow when the Saints play host to SUNY Cortland at 9:30 a.m.
