Caroline Hamilton tallied four goals and two assists and
Courtney Lynn made nine saves to lead the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team to a 14-7 win over RIT for senior day at North Country Field on Saturday afternoon.
Second to Hamilton,
Jessica LaPlaca tallied two goals, two assists and two ground balls, while
Liz Evans finished with two goals and an assist.
Neve Ley also added a pair of goals, while
Morgan Arakelian and
Phoebe Spaeth recorded a goal and an assist each.
Bella Hillman and
Ellie Camp also scored once for the Scarlet and Brown.
Haley Sundstrom recorded five draw control wins, four ground balls and two caused turnovers, while
Brigette Gable finished with five caused turnovers and four ground balls.
The Saints made a statement in the first quarter, shutting out RIT 5-0 within the first 15 minutes of play off goals from Spaeth, Ley, LaPlaca, Arakelian and Hamilton.
Liz Evans scored first to open the second, but the Tigers rebounded a bit in the second, scoring the next goal and two before the break, but St. Lawrence held onto a six-goal advantage at halftime, leading 9-3.
The third quarter was a bit slower paced, with just one goal apiece. St. Lawrence led 10-4 heading into the final frame.
RIT scored the first two of the fourth, bringing the game back within four, but Hamilton recorded three straight goals and tallied an assist on a goal from Ley down the stretch to help seal the win.
Serafina Kiselgof and Lily DePalma each recorded two goals and an assist for the Tigers, while Katherine Killian picked up two ground balls, caused three turnovers and won five draw controls.
Lynn made nine saves for the win, while Ellie Ruddy finished with 10 for RIT.
The Saints finished with a 24-16 advantage in shots on goal and picked up 23 ground balls to RIT's 12. The Tigers went 3-for-5 on free-position attempts, while the Saints went 2-for-4.
With the win, St. Lawrence improved to 5-11 overall and 4-6 in league play, while RIT fell to 6-9 and 2-8, respectively.
The Saints locked in seventh place in the league standings and will travel to second-seeded William Smith for a first-round game on Tuesday, April 30. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.Â
