The Saints got big days from
Molly Jespersen and
Yvette Karera as the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team defeated Rochester 5-4 on Saturday afternoon in Rochester, N.Y.
The Scarlet and Brown improved to 10-6 on the year, while Rochester fell to 4-10.
In doubles action,
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and
Molly Jespersen had their hands full with Josephine Libby and Sanjana Karnam in the number one spot. The match would go to a tiebreaker which the Saints' sophomores took 7-2 for the 8-7 win. Then at number two, the Karera sisters continued their dominant play defeating Sahithi Mathukumilli and Neha Dania 8-1.
In singles, the Yellowjackets would claim all three odd-number matches, while the Saints won all of the even numbers.
At two, Jespersen took on Karnum and faced little resistance in the 6-0, 6-1 win.
Yvette Karera saw similar success in her match against Jaclyn Dron at number four, winning 6-1, 6-1. In the number six spot,
Meredith Macey took on Mathukumilli and took away a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The Saints will be back on the road next weekend for their final two road games of their regular season schedule when they head to RPI on Saturday, April 20, and Bard on April 21.
